The Ten Charms

Los Diez Encantos 2

Kenna F. Hernández delivered a copy of her book ‘Los diez encantos’ to the library this morning. ‘Los diez encantos’ is a story that combines real events with fictional elements to attract and entertain the reader. This publication is in Spanish. The inspiration for writing the book comes from her own personal life, the travels she made, the things she saw, and the romantic experiences she went through.

‘Los diez encantos’ is a Spanish fictional novel inspired by real events. It explores the themes of love, personal growth, and memory through reflection, featuring a structured narrative. It is a contemporary literary work that follows a main character who reflects on topics of love, memory, and personal transformation during a long journey before reaching her adventure. She reflects on a past that has turned into a lesson and an unpredictable present with characters who will bring changes to her life.

Kenna’s dream is to inspire youth to read more and broaden their horizons through literature. By making the story available in multiple languages, she hopes to contribute to an educational resource that connects with a diverse and multilingual audience. “When I was little, I used to read many books in English, Dutch, Spanish, and Papiamento. And I started writing from a young age.” Kenna’s aspiration is to continue studying literature. She finished her English studies and works as a teacher.

Kenna grew up in Aruba and moved to the Netherlands a few years ago. Kenna’s passion is writing stories that can connect people across cultures and languages. Her goal is to make more literature available to the youth of Aruba and around the world, especially in lesser-represented languages like Papiamento. Her upcoming work ‘Bek den pasado’ is almost ready and is in Papiamento.

Kenna’s professional career began in journalism in Aruba. An emotional moment in her literary journey is the donation of a copy of her book to the National Library of Aruba. “It means a lot to deliver my first book so that other young people can read and be inspired, and continue with their achievements to contribute to Aruban literary works.”

“Publishing in Papiamento is important and holds special value because it continues to enrich Aruban literature in our own language.”

Kenna feels that publication, in Papiamento, English, Dutch, and Spanish alike, will continue to contribute to the development of literature in Aruba and motivate new generations to tell stories. “I will continue to treat Aruba’s education and literature with love, dedication, and determination to contribute to culture and language.”
