May Stats 2026 1

The Aruba Tourism Authority (A.T.A.), through its Strategy, Planning, and Research department, presented the “Spending Insights 2025” in its May report. This is based on the A.T.A. Airport Exit Survey, which was reinstated in 2024 (after an interruption caused by the pandemic). This monthly airport survey captures detailed data on visitor spending and behavior, including satisfaction, likelihood of return visits, visitor type, group composition, length of stay, accommodation, and income.

The results of the 2025 study confirm that tourism spending is a key indicator of economic impact. During this year, total visitor spending reached USD 3.06 billion, with an Average Daily Expenditure (ADEX) per person of USD 297. The average spending per package including airfare was USD 4,624, and the average spending per group was USD 4,989. Finally, the average spending per person per stay was USD 2,019.

It is worth mentioning that the majority of spending is concentrated in accommodation (38%), followed by food and beverage outside of the accommodation (13%) and inside the accommodation (12%). The North American market contributed USD 2.37 billion (78%) to total spending, followed by the Latin American market with USD 460 million (15%) and Europe with USD 144 million (5%).

This data is based on more than 8,000 surveys, featuring a mix of 64% first-time visitors and 36% repeat visitors (visitors who keep returning to Aruba). The data provides A.T.A. with a solid foundation to make strategic decisions that focus more on quality, value, and sustainability in the development of tourism in Aruba.

Statistics According to Updates in the Tourism Industry
Stayover, Length of Stay, and Market Share

In the month of May 2026, Aruba received a total of 133,680 stayover visitors, while the total number of stayover nights up to May 2026 reached 1,515,102. This resulted in an Average Length of Stay (ALOS) of 7.0 nights, reflecting a consistent mix of stay duration and travel types during the month.

The market distribution during April showed that North America continued to be the region with the largest contribution, representing 74.4% of all visitors. South America contributed 19.0%, Europe 4.1%, while other regions accounted for 2.5% of total arrivals. The United States and Canada contributed the most arrivals from North America, while Argentina once again showed significant growth within South America. For Europe, the Netherlands remained the market with the most arrivals.

Visitor profile data shows that Aruba continues to attract a multi-generational audience. Millennials (27.7%) and Baby Boomers (25.7%) together formed the largest percentage of visitors during May, while Gen X (25.3%) and Generation Z (13.7%) also represented an important segment. This combination reflects how attractive Aruba is as a destination for different generations of travelers.
