Aruba’s financial supervision began in 2015, and the Council of Advice advised that Aruba could have taken a different path

Rocco Tjon 1 2

Starting in 2015, the Council of Advice gave its recommendations to the AVP government, yet both the government and the parliamentarians of that time voted in favor of a law that the Council had indicated was in conflict with the Constitution of Aruba. The Parliament, which then held an AVP majority, still approved the LAFT law.

Member of Parliament Rocco Tjon states that this is where the first harm and the first betrayal toward the Country of Aruba began: when a vote was cast in favor of a law (LAFT) that was contrary to the Aruban Constitution.
