Attempts by VVD and CDA to declare the child care law BES controversial fail

Bes

VVD and CDA tried in the Committee on Social Affairs and Employment of the House of Representatives to declare the Child Care Act contraversive, but they were left alone in this presentation.

The bill sets out the basic rules for the amount, supervision and funding of child care in Bonaire, Saba and St Eustatius. The goal is to provide good, safe and accessible childcare for all children in the Caribbean Netherlands, so that every child has the opportunity to develop. The bill also includes some adjustments to the Primary Education Act BES. This is to ensure that the transition from kindergarten to primary school is smooth and that developmental and learning delays are avoided.

VVD and CDA wish the law not to be considered until a new cabinet is formed, but they have not explained this. They may wish to avoid the fact that childcare in the Caribbean Netherlands is (almost) free before in the European Netherlands.
