The city of Rotterdam once again hosted the Zomercarnaval 2026. A reception for guests took place at Rotterdam City Hall (stadhuis) in the presence of Rotterdam’s mayor, Carola Schouten. The Cabinet of Aruba was represented on this occasion by Sidney Kock, PR for the Cabinet of Aruba.
In the hall, Mayor Carola Schouten emphasized in her speech the cultural aspect of the Zomercarnaval, which is a UNESCO world heritage. The mayor also thanked everyone who has contributed for over 40 years to make the event possible. An event that, according to Schouten, unites the different cultures in Rotterdam and is also an expression of passion and creativity. Mayor Schouten also mentioned that the Rotterdam Unlimited Zomercarnaval received this year’s Rotterdam oeuvre award (ouvreprijs) in recognition of the event’s enormous contribution to Rotterdam’s image as an inclusive, creative, and energetic city.
Afterwards, the guests were able to watch the parade from a podium in front of City Hall.
