Yup! Parrotfish are extremely important to our reefs. They munch on coral, preventing algae from overgrowing the corals. Then, they digest remnants of the coral’s stony skeleton into fine sand. It’s estimated that a single parrotfish could produce up to 90 kilograms of sand each year.
