Arrest for insulting a public official in the execution of duty and failure to obey a stop signal
On Thursday evening, December 11, at approximately 8:30 p.m., a police pursuit took place, which ended with an arrest on Kaya Dr. Jose Girigorio Hernandez. The incident began when a patrol attempted to stop the driver of a car on Kaya Papa Cornes for a routine check, but the driver ignored the police stop signal. The patrol pursued the vehicle through several streets, after which the driver drove into the garden of a residence on Kaya Dr. Jose Girigorio Hernandez.
During the inspection, the driver initially refused to hand over his driver’s license but later did so, along with an expired insurance certificate. The driver did not comply with the officers’ instructions, attempted to obstruct the inspection, touched an officer twice, and repeatedly insulted the officers. The driver was searched, and the vehicle was also searched. The 24-year-old man with the initials J.C.J.W. was subsequently arrested for insulting a public official in the execution of duty and for failing to comply with police orders.
The Caribbean Netherlands Police Force tolerates no form of verbal or physical violence against police officers. In addition to making arrests for criminal offenses, officers have the full right to file reports against suspects for any form of assault they experience, both in and out of uniform. Calm cooperation by everyone during checks and when violations are detected contributes to a peaceful resolution, which is desirable for all.
Theft of fatbike battery
On Thursday, December 11, a report was made regarding the theft of a fatbike battery. The fatbike was parked near a school on Kaya Frater Odulfinus. Unknown persons removed the battery. The case is under investigation.
Planned traffic control
On Wednesday evening, December 10, a planned traffic control was carried out on Kaya Korona. A total of nineteen (19) vehicles were stopped and checked, during which seven (7) fines were issued.
The fines were issued for the following violations:
2× driving without valid insurance;
3× driving without a valid driver’s license;
1× failure to produce a driver’s license upon first request;
1× not wearing a seatbelt.
One (1) driver was not allowed to continue driving because he did not possess a driver’s license or insurance certificate. In addition, his car was in an unroadworthy condition. Various lights were defective, and the rear fixtures were also broken.
Regular checks will be carried out, and strict enforcement will be applied when drivers do not have their documents in order or do not comply with traffic rules. Failure to comply may result in a fine. The amount of the fines for the above-mentioned violations ranges from $30 to $225.
Planned action against illegal parking
On Wednesday, December 10, a planned action was carried out against illegally parked vehicles. A patrol again observed several cars illegally parked on Kaya J.E. Nicolaas. On this road, parking and stopping are prohibited on both sides. This road is intended for two-way traffic, which makes parking on the roadway or sidewalk prohibited and obstructive to traffic.
The cars were parked on the roadway. Four (4) drivers received fines, and two vehicles were towed away. The Caribbean Netherlands Police Force (KPCN) warns that illegally parked vehicles in unauthorized locations will be towed. Offenders may receive a fine, and towing costs will be charged to the driver or owner of the vehicle.
Collision involving multiple vehicles
On Wednesday, December 10, at approximately 7:05 a.m., the central dispatch center received a report of a collision involving multiple vehicles on the E.E.G. Boulevard. Upon arrival, police determined that a driver lost control of the vehicle because another vehicle suddenly appeared in front of her car. As a result, she collided with parked vehicles along the road.
The driver complained of pain and was treated on the scene by ambulance personnel. In accordance with the “collision means breath test” policy, a breathalyzer test was administered, and the result was negative. Police temporarily managed traffic until emergency services had completed their work.
