Residents of Bonaire once again had the opportunity to exercise their important right to vote in the 2025 Parliamentary Election, which took place on October 29, 2025. Voting is an important moment when citizens can make their voices heard regarding the future of the Netherlands and the Caribbean Netherlands.
To assist residents in deciding who to vote for, the Caribbean Netherlands Election Compass (KiesKompas Caribisch Nederland) was developed. This voting tool aimed to help the people of Bonaire, St. Eustatius, and Saba make an informed choice during the election.
This year, 15,578 residents of Bonaire were eligible to vote. A total of 3,294 residents cast their ballots, representing a turnout of 21.5%. In 2023, this number was 4,037. The election proceeded calmly and in good order, and the organization was well executed.
The coordination of the election was managed by the Civil Affairs Department of the Public Entity of Bonaire (OLB). The OLB extends its gratitude to all polling station members, volunteers, and staff who contributed to the smooth running of the election. Thanks to their dedication, residents were able to vote safely and without any issues.
Nationally, D66 emerged as the winner of the 2025 Parliamentary Elections.
Finally, the Civil Affairs Department of the OLB and the Electoral Council (Kiesraad) will take part in an evaluation session. During this meeting, Bonaire’s experiences and key observations will be discussed to help improve the organization of future elections.
