Bureau Sostenemi celebrated two decades of dedication to protecting children and supporting families in our community. As part of this anniversary, the organization inaugurated its new office, located in a more central area that facilitates more visible and accessible services for those in need of guidance and assistance.
Minister Wyatt-Ras, together with Director Mrs. Magaly Maduro, cut the ribbon, marking the official opening of the new office. During the ceremony, there was a symbolic moment together with children and singer Freddy Rasta, reflecting the organization’s central mission: to protect, guide, and support. The event brought together representatives from government, professionals, and community partners.
Bureau Sostenemi functions as the central point for advice and guidance when there are concerns about a child’s well-being. Citizens can approach the organization to receive professional guidance and to report situations that may put a child’s safety at risk. The agency serves as a national reporting and coordination center for suspected child abuse and works to ensure families receive appropriate support and protection when needed.
According to Minister Wyatt-Ras, who has a long career in the social sector and has closely followed the development of this issue, the work of Bureau Sostenemi directly impacts people:
“I myself have worked in the social sector and I know how essential it is to have a dignified place where citizens can go when they have concerns about a child. Bureau Sostenemi plays a fundamental role in the protection network, and this work deserves our continued support,” the minister expressed.
In connection with the month of awareness and prevention of child abuse, this opening highlights the commitment of the Ministry of Public Health, Social Affairs, Elderly Care, and Addiction Services to strengthen the necessary support within the community. The new facility is a vital tool to ensure that the protection of our children remains a priority and a responsibility that we all share.
