SMAC sat down with the Tumba Commission, tumbero’s, representatives of musical bands, as well as the President of the Jury, Mr. Ivan Cuandus. During this informative meeting, several essential points were discussed regarding the Tumba Festival, including:
· The Tumba regulations for the current edition
· Tumba prizes and their structure
· General logistics of the festival
· The official venue where the event will take place
· Jury members and their roles
· The opportunity to present Tumba songs during the parade, with the consent of group leaders and participants
· The musical bands that will perform during the festival
· Ways to help reduce costs, as many bands are facing operational challenges
In this way, the goal is to jointly improve the quality of the 54th Tumba Festival as well as future editions. Many suggestions were raised, such as possible changes in the way musical bands perform during the event.
According to SMAC President Darren van Ommeren, the meeting was a pleasant and constructive encounter, filled with useful information for the Tumba Commission. Meanwhile, SMAC still has some pending tasks to continue working on, in order to evaluate whether certain adjustments can still be implemented in the upcoming Carnival 72 season.
SMAC emphasizes that after a long time, Aruba will be able to enjoy a truly large and vibrant Tumba Festival. Tickets for the event will be available via Pay.aw and will soon also be obtainable at various strategic sales points around the island.
