From May 9 to June 9, the diving team of the 2nd Reconnaissance Battalion of the 2nd Marine Division, United States Marine Corps, will be in Aruba for the Caribbean Coastal Warrior exercise. During this annual diving training, the American marines work together with the Marine Squadron Carib, stationed in Aruba. The training is part of an exchange program between the Dutch and American navies, in which training takes place alternately in both the Caribbean and the United States.
Earlier this year, in April 2025, the Caribbean Urban Warrior exercise took place in America at Camp Lejeune, the base of the United States Marine Corps, where marines from the Marine Squadron Carib Aruba, the Marine Detachment Sint Maarten and the boat groups from Aruba and Curaçao trained together with American marines. Training and exercising together in both countries strengthens the cooperation between the corps. It promotes mutual ties and offers valuable opportunities to learn from each other.
The currently ongoing diving training takes place in Aruba and focuses on tactical diving skills with a rebreather. The training is conducted by various diving teams from the United States Marine Corps.
