A group of 15 students from Filomena College MAVO recently participated in an eight-day educational trip to Italy as part of the European Erasmus+ program, which aims to promote cultural and educational exchange among young people from different countries.
After an extensive selection process, the following students were given the opportunity to be part of the delegation: Keldrixia Arrindell, Shalienne Brown, Amir Croes, Jayson Cuevas, Kaylee-Ann Gomez, Brandon Kingsale, Erline Kock, Maya Gordon, Emily Mohamed, Kiandra Nicolaas, Valentina Rivas, Jennely Tromp, Qianna Werleman, Arthur Willems, and Jhairion Williams. The group was accompanied by teachers Raquel Lampe, Mariela Carrion, and Daisy Franken.
During their stay in Italy, the students visited several important historical and cultural landmarks, including the Vatican Museum, the Trevi Fountain, the Sistine Chapel, St. Peter’s Basilica, the Colosseum, and the Pantheon. In addition, they participated in a recreational workshop where they learned how to prepare traditional Italian pizza.
The educational program also included a tour of the historic center of Rome and a visit to Rome’s first Museum Station, which had officially opened only two months before the group arrived.
A central component of the experience was the cultural exchange and student mobility activity carried out at ISSS Charles Darwin, where the students interacted with local students and teachers as part of the Erasmus+ initiative.
With this participation, the group from Filomena College MAVO expresses their sincere gratitude to the Erasmus+ program, to the host school ISSS Charles Darwin, and to all teachers who contributed to the experience, especially Antonio Sciortino and Eleonora Minelli. The students also thank their own teachers Raquel Lampe, Daisy Franken, and Mariela Carrion, as well as all parents and collaborators who provided support to make the project possible.
