The president of the San Nicolas Business Association (SNBA), Errol de Freitas, expressed his deep frustration regarding the lack of structural communication and coordination between the Government and the business organization. According to the business union, although meetings are ongoing, the Government fails to deliver a concrete vision or a real execution plan for the San Nicolas region.
De Freitas stated that everything is done in secret from the people of San Nicolas, while the SNBA has handed over complete plans and original ideas to the Government. However, the process remains stuck without any tangible results.
“We have handed the Government a complete vision,” De Freitas stated, adding that ministers or individual persons might try to take the initiative to do things their own way, but what is missing is a structural execution process and a well-thought-out master plan.
• Lack of real attention: The Government does not give San Nicolas the proper attention, limiting itself to superficial activities or minor repairs on Bernardstraat instead of bringing about structural change.
• Lack of connection and continuity: Although there are rounds of ministers and contact with some officials, continuity is broken, and agreements made on projects for San Nicolas are left behind in the bureaucracy.
• Pipeline projects without progress: Original ideas and projects presented by the union do not receive the proper follow-up or respect needed to achieve successful execution.
Given this situation, the SNBA makes a strong call to the Government to set aside the pretty words and fulfill the agreements, plans, and projects in the pipeline to bring the necessary economic development that the San Nicolas region deserves.
