This week, the Minister of Health, Social Affairs, Elderly Care, and Addiction Management, Ms. drs. Melvin Wyatt-Ras, participated in the swearing-in ceremony and the official graduation ceremony of the EPI Health and Service sector. Minister Wyatt-Ras emphasized that professions in the care and health sector require not only knowledge and practical skills but also integrity, humanity, and responsibility. According to the Minister, the professionals of tomorrow will play an important role in the care and guidance of people at different stages of their lives.
On Monday, the future nurses, pedagogical social workers, and pharmacy assistants took their oath. Minister Wyatt-Ras reminded them that the oath is not just a formality but a promise to practice their future profession with integrity, respect, and responsibility. She emphasized that this promise should continue to guide them in every decision they make as professionals.
On Wednesday night, the students celebrated their official graduation ceremony. This year, 72 students graduated, meaning that 84% of the students in the EPI Health and Service sector successfully completed their studies.
In her speech, Minister Wyatt-Ras congratulated the graduates on their dedication and perseverance. She reminded them that the diploma does not only mark the end of their studies at EPI but also the beginning of a new phase that requires commitment, continuous development, and responsibility. The Minister encouraged the students to continue expanding their knowledge, to keep growing, and to never stop learning.
As a final message, Minister Wyatt-Ras shared a piece of advice with the graduates: “Taking care of yourself is not a luxury, but an essential part of the responsibility you assume as a professional.”
At the end of both ceremonies, Minister Wyatt-Ras expressed her gratitude to the board, teachers, and staff of EPI, as well as to the families for their dedication and contribution to the formation of the graduates. On behalf of the Ministry of Health, Social Affairs, Elderly Care, and Addiction Management, we congratulate all graduates and wish them much success in their personal and professional development.
