During his address in yesterday’s public session, Parliamentarian Eduard Pieters presented not only his concerns and constructive criticism, but also realistic and practical alternatives to the crisis of confidence caused by the Rijkswet HOFA within both the community and Parliament.
According to the Partido Patriotico Arubano (PPA) faction, the only viable alternative to the HOFA law is to halt the process entirely, restart dialogue, and form a national front.

PPA’s Minority Report

“We have shared our firm positions with all parliamentarians and ministers and have submitted a Minority Report, a document that proposes a realistic and achievable path forward for Aruba,” Pieters stated.

He stressed that Aruba has already demonstrated financial discipline and capacity, even during the pandemic, without relying on Dutch financial control laws.
“Aruba has shown that it can responsibly manage its own finances. If we wish to adapt LAFT, we can negotiate and amend it through dialogue — not through an imposed instrument,” he added.

An invitation to all parties: Put Aruba first
Pieters delivered a powerful message to his colleagues in Parliament:

“I am not here to point fingers or assign blame. I am here to lower the party flag and raise Aruba’s flag above all else.”

He also announced that the PPA faction has submitted two motions of great importance, giving voice to those whom Parliament represents:
1. A motion instructing the government to begin a new process of dialogue and consultation with business, labor, social, and parliamentary organizations.
2. A motion to establish a National Front, creating a unified body with a common vision on financial oversight, founded on trust and mutual respect.

A moral and patriotic duty
Finally, Pieters emphasized that the time has come for Parliament to listen to the voice of the people it represents.
“This is not a partisan battle, but a moral and patriotic duty to defend our autonomy, our constitution, and our future as a nation. Aruba earned its freedom through struggle and sacrifice — we cannot give it up out of fear, and certainly not for personal gain,” he said.

“The voice of the people is clear: Aruba wants respect, transparency, and leadership with dignity. The PPA faction and party make a heartfelt appeal to all factions, organizations, and citizens to unite in a national front to defend what our forefathers built. Our autonomy is not a gift — it is a sacred responsibility. And we will continue to stand firm — for our people, our nation, and the dignity of Aruba.”
