Signing of a Cooperation Agreement between Omgevingsdienst Nederland and the Public Entity Bonaire

Dth 1

The Public Entity Bonaire has taken the initiative to further strengthen the Permits, Supervision and Enforcement system (VTH) and has therefore entered into a cooperation agreement with Omgevingsdienst Nederland (ODNL).

The agreement was signed on behalf of the Public Entity Bonaire by the Governor of Bonaire and on behalf of ODNL by its Chairperson. ODNL’s support focuses on the execution of VTH-related tasks within the Directorates of Supervision and Enforcement (DTH) and Spatial Planning & Development (DRO).

The agreement aligns with the Administrative Accord and represents an important step in the continued professionalization of the VTH system on Bonaire. ODNL will provide both tactical and operational support to DRO and DTH.

A key principle of the agreement is investment in local capacity building. ODNL’s efforts focus on knowledge transfer, training and guidance of staff, enabling Bonaire to carry out VTH tasks in an increasingly independent and sustainable manner over time.

The agreement has a duration of two years and will enter into force on 1 January 2026
