“The Backbone of Our Society” executive council highlights SELIBON employees

Selibon X Olb 1

The Executive Council of the Public Entity Bonaire (OLB) expressed its deep appreciation this week for the staff of SELIBON NV. In a personal message to the employees, the Executive Council emphasized that the team’s dedication—especially under the challenging circumstances of recent years—has been of immeasurable value to the island. As a tangible gesture of gratitude, a special end-of-year package was distributed to all employees this year.

According to the Executive Council, employees in waste management form the backbone of Bonairean society. Despite often difficult working conditions and limited resources, SELIBON staff have continued day in and day out to ensure the hygiene and livability of the island.
“Without their tireless commitment, public health and the natural beauty of Bonaire would be at risk. Their work is essential and deserves our greatest respect,” said Island Commissioner Abraham.

Investing in the Future

The Executive Council acknowledges that a great deal has been demanded of the staff’s resilience in recent years. For that reason, a clear course has been set to restore SELIBON’s financial and operational health. As previously announced, the OLB made the first necessary investments this year. In the coming years, the Executive Council will continue to invest in operations and equipment.

The objective of these investments is twofold: to optimize services to the public and to improve working conditions.
“The staff are central to this renewal. They must be able to perform their work with modern equipment and in a safe environment that does justice to their professionalism.”

Appreciation Through Action

In addition to the structural investments in the company, the Executive Council also wished to personally thank the employees for their perseverance over the past year. In recognition of their hard work, an end-of-year package was presented to all staff members.

The Executive Council concludes with a hopeful outlook for the future:
“We continue to rely on your passion. Together, with mutual respect and the necessary investments, we are building a more beautiful, cleaner, and better Bonair
