Unions: Aruba is fulfilling its obligations without the need for the Rijkswet HOFA

Union representatives emphasize that Aruba is demonstrating financial discipline and continuous compliance with its obligations, both nationally and internationally, without the need to implement legislation such as the Rijkswet HOFA.

Jose Figaroa, representing the Uni unions, stated that current figures confirm that Aruba has consistently met its payment obligations to the Netherlands and other institutions. According to Figaroa, these results are clear evidence that the country is following established norms and moving in a positive financial direction.

Figaroa added that the current situation should serve as a moment for reflection. He believes that, considering the progress Aruba has achieved without the presence of such legislation, it is valid to question the necessity of introducing an additional legal framework.

According to the unions, the process currently unfolding should be analyzed with caution, as they believe Aruba has the capacity to manage its finances responsibly without additional intervention.

These statements form part of the broader discussion on financial autonomy and the role of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Aruba’s governance.
