“Know more and do more to fight diabetes in our community”

The Aruba One Happy Island Lions Club (OHIL), under the leadership of its president Aliyuri Arends, invites all community members to a free Diabetes Talk on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, at 7:00 PM at MFA Santa Cruz.

This talk is part of Lions Club International’s global mission to fight diabetes — one of the organization’s nine main humanitarian causes. The event aims to raise awareness, encourage early detection, and provide the community with the knowledge needed to lead a healthier life.

Under the theme “Know more and do more to fight diabetes in our community”, experts from POH will share key information about prevention, early symptoms, and lifestyle changes that can help prevent or control diabetes. Participants will receive practical advice on healthy eating, the importance of physical activity, and regular blood sugar monitoring.

President of Aruba One Happy Island Lions Club, Lion Aliyuri Arends, stated:
“The mission of Lions is to serve and improve the lives of people in our community. Diabetes affects many families on our island, but with knowledge and action we can change that story. Together, we can build a stronger and healthier community.”

Admission is free, and everyone — young and old — is warmly invited to attend. Doors open at 6:30 PM.
To register, send a message via WhatsApp to +297 568-0829.
There will be opportunities to check your blood sugar and blood pressure, as well as enjoy a hand massage.

The Aruba One Happy Island Lions Club continues to work in line with Lions Clubs International’s global causes: Vision, Youth, Disaster Relief, Humanitarian Efforts, Diabetes, Childhood Cancer, Hunger Relief, Environment, and Mental Health.

Join the Lions of OHIL in the fight against diabetes.
Together, we can create awareness, inspire action, and bring hope to our community.
