After consultations with the Supervisory Board regarding the CEO position, Minister Wendrick Cicilia confirmed the appointment of Jonny Andersen, former CEO and Managing Director of Curaçao Airport Partners, to lead Aruba Airport Authority N.V.
Jonny Andersen brings over two decades of international airport leadership experience, including senior roles at Curaçao International Airport, Kenya Airports Authority, and Avinor AS. Recognized for his strategic vision and strong focus on operational excellence, sustainability, and stakeholder engagement, Jonny Andersen is considered a strong leader to guide AAA through its next development phase.
Extensive Experience
Jonny Andersen also previously led and successfully implemented an ambitious multi-airport cost optimization program, achieving significant reductions in group-wide expenses without affecting service quality. This experience is particularly relevant for Aruba, as AAA enters the next phase of Gateway 2030, where financial discipline, operational continuity, and careful cost management are essential for delivering a modern and efficient airport.
During his tenure at Curaçao International Airport, Jonny Andersen achieved several key developments:
• Increased passenger traffic from 1.5 million in 2022 to 2.2 million in 2024, marking historic growth for the airport.
• Returned CUR to profitability for the first time since 2017 and delivered record financial performance in each of the following three years.
• Renewed CUR’s image and positioned the airport as a two-time finalist for the Routes World and Routes Americas Awards in its category.
• Improved the ACI ASQ passenger satisfaction score from 3.78 to 4.16 and secured CUR’s first SKYTRAX ranking among regional leaders.
