“No Need” by Parliamentarian Endy Croes Shakes Up Parliament

Endy Croes

Parliamentarians sleeping in Parliament did not put their names forward to discuss Aruba’s national budget, causing anger. During yesterday’s session in Parliament to address the 2026 national budget, only one speaker put their name forward to speak. When it became clear that this speaker was not fully prepared, they said “geen behoefde” (“no need”), which meant that after their name there were no other names on the list that the President of Parliament, Marlon Sneek, could call for the first round.

As a result, no other parliamentarian was able to deliver their speech. This caused anger and frustration among AVP parliamentarians. Nevertheless, such situations happen, and each parliamentarian must remain attentive to their work.

This incident also highlights a political strategy, showing the difference between experienced politicians and newcomers here, experience spoke for itself.
