The Caribbean Netherlands Police Force (KPCN) is introducing two new community police officers on Bonaire for the neighborhoods of Antriol and Playa.
Victoria Melaan is the new community police officer for Antriol. Her area of responsibility includes Antriol, Antriol Pabou, Antriol Pariba, and Bario Mexico. Victoria has been working as a police officer in the Caribbean Netherlands for 17 years. Previously, she served for three years as a community police officer on Saba. After returning to Bonaire in 2024, she coordinated police patrols. She has now rejoined the community policing team and is once again focusing on direct cooperation with residents and partners within the neighborhood.
Jorge Wanga, better known as Toy, is the new community police officer for Playa. His work area includes Playa, Playa Pariba, Playa Pabou, Kaya Industria, and Kaya Hulanda. Jorge has worked as a police officer for 18 years and spent the past nine years within the Traffic Unit, where he was involved in traffic advisory services and traffic investigations.
Victoria and Jorge are taking on their new roles with great enthusiasm. They succeed Victoriano “Iby” Statie (Antriol) and Ronald Schleper (Playa), who have retired after many years of dedicated service.
Getting to Know Your Community Police Officer
In the coming period, Victoria and Jorge will actively introduce themselves within their neighborhoods and through the media. Residents can already contact their community police officer via email or by calling the police station and asking for the community police officer of their neighborhood.
The other community police officers will support Victoria and Jorge in their duties. Community police officers always work together. The division of the other neighborhoods remains unchanged:
- Quinlan deLanoy – Rincon, Tras di Montaña, Sabadeco, Tourist Road, Playa Grandi, Goto Lake and surroundings, Washington Park and surroundings
- Irvin “Lee” Anthonij – Nort Saliña, Hato, Republiek, Nawati, and Bona Bista
- Laurienne Francis – Nikiboko, Sabana, Lagun Hill, Amboina, Tanki Matrimonio, Nieuw Amsterdam, Mamparia Kutu, Bario Wanapa, Lac, and Sorobon
