Member of the Dutch delegation to IPKO, Songül Mutluer, indicated that the current geopolitical situation has drawn significant attention. Alongside common topics such as institutional cooperation and socio-economic development, the geopolitical situation occupied a central place in the discussions. Mutluer acknowledged that the strategic position of the Caribbean islands leads the Netherlands to pay particular attention to regional stability, security, and international collaboration.
During meetings with the Government of Aruba, geopolitical issues, energy, and cooperation within the Kingdom were discussed in depth. According to the Dutch delegation, the changing global context requires greater coordination and clarity regarding the role each country plays within the Kingdom.
Cooperation with a forward-looking perspective
Mutluer emphasized that IPKO is a valuable platform for exchanging perspectives and strengthening mutual understanding between parliaments. For GroenLinks–PvdA, cooperation within the Kingdom must be based on open dialogue and reciprocal respect, but also on sustainability and social justice.
The Dutch delegation left Aruba with a positive tone, but also with awareness of the geopolitical and institutional challenges that require continued attention. According to Mutluer, the combination of positive local development and critical dialogue within IPKO is essential for a stronger and more resilient Kingdom.
