With great pride, Tourism Corporation Bonaire (TCB) is announcing a month-long program of activities for the entire month of September to celebrate Tourism Month, culminating with the celebration of World Tourism Day on September 27.
throughout the entire month, TCB is organizing various activities to celebrate Bonaire’s culture, heritage, tourism sector, people, and experiences, which make our island a unique destination for visitors from around the world.
Every Saturday in September, starting September 5, visitors landing at Bonaire’s Flamingo International Airport will receive a warm Bonairean-style welcome, full of rhythm and folkloric music from our island. Visitors will also have the opportunity to meet local Bonaire Ambassadors dressed in traditional folkloric attire and take pictures with them. As a token of appreciation, arriving visitors will receive a special welcome gift as part of TCB’s visitor retention program, known as Bonaire Ambassadors.
The festivities continue with Bonaire Day (Dia di Boneiru) on September 6, a day dedicated to the culture, history, and identity of our island. In honor of this important occasion, various activities and events will take place all over our island.
“Tourism Month provides us with an opportunity not only to celebrate the importance of tourism for Bonaire, but also our people, our culture, our heritage, and our experiences that make our island so special,” says Elesiër Angel, director of Tourism Corporation Bonaire. “Everything we do in the field of tourism is connected, from the experiences we create for our visitors to the opportunities that tourism offers our community. With these activities, we want to celebrate our island, involve our residents, and continue sharing Bonaire’s authentic character with the world.”
On September 19, TCB is organizing a tourist scavenger hunt (spùrtògt turístiko) in Rincon for children aged 8 to 12. This fun and educational event takes participants on a journey through various tourist and historical sites, where they can participate in different activities and learn more about Bonaire’s rich history and heritage. The winners of the tourist scavenger hunt will be announced during the Taste of Bonaire event on September 26.
Recently, TCB also launched the next edition of the Capture Bonaire Photo Contest 2026, inviting participants to capture and share their unique perspective of our island. The contest runs for four weeks from August 19 to September 16, 2026, and the three winners will be selected from all eligible photos submitted via the official contest platform. The winners will be announced on September 23, 2026.
On September 24 and 25, TCB is organizing its annual tourism summit, the Bonaire Tourism Summit, under the theme “Everything is connected – Tur kos ta konektá”. During this summit, partners and stakeholders from the tourism sector will receive various updates on the latest developments in the sector, including air connections, marketing initiatives, public relations strategy, and other important topics that are decisive for the future of tourism on Bonaire. Partners and stakeholders are encouraged to register and participate.
The month-long celebration reaches its climax on Saturday, September 26, with the next edition of Taste of Bonaire, where residents and visitors come together to enjoy our island’s culinary offerings, culture, music, and sense of community.
With Tourism Month, TCB wants to draw attention to the importance of tourism for Bonaire and at the same time create opportunities for residents, visitors, industry partners, and stakeholders to connect with each other, learn from one another, and celebrate everything that makes Bonaire truly a unique destination.
