Dialogue between the Government of Aruba and representatives of the UTV and ATV sector continued on Monday in a constructive atmosphere, with the goal of bringing positions closer together and continuing to work toward a concrete solution for the current situation.
Minister of Housing, Infrastructure, Internal Services, and Telecommunications, drs. Rene Herdé, indicated that the process is progressing well and that the parties involved are showing a willingness to listen to one another and find common ground.
As part of the next phase, work is underway to form a committee with broad representation from the sector. The intention is for various interests and expertise within the sector to be represented, so that the dialogue can continue in a structured manner focused on concrete solutions.
An important aspect of the discussions is the concern among companies and workers regarding the continuity of their activities and employment. The Government is aware of the uncertainty the situation is causing and is taking economic and labor aspects into account when seeking a way forward.
Minister Herdé emphasized that the Government is treating the process with full transparency, sharing information with the sector and maintaining an open dialogue throughout each phase. The goal is to reach a solution that takes the various interests involved into account and provides greater clarity and perspective for the sector.
The dialogue continues while the Government awaits the court case scheduled for this Thursday. Until that moment, the Government will continue to make every possible effort to bring the parties closer together and explore opportunities for an agreement.
According to Minister Herdé, the priority remains clear: to seek a responsible and balanced solution that accounts for the applicable framework, as well as the reality of the companies and individuals whose work is directly connected to the sector.
