Since 2021, our seniors have had a legal right to receive indexation on their AOV, which today should amount to 1050 XCG and not 1000 XCG.
The MFK Government hides behind the CBS, claiming it cannot calculate economic growth from August to August, in order to refrain from indexing the pension according to the AOV law.
If there were truly political will from the Pisas Government, entities such as the Central Bank and the Ministry of Economic Affairs, together with the Ministry of Finance, could be asked to perform the necessary calculations, as indexation has a positive impact on our pensioners’ income.
The Government itself demonstrated that when political will exists—for example, paying vacation allowance to civil servants earlier than prescribed by law—it can be done. Aside from having a positive impact on civil servants, there was political will to make the payment earlier.
This means that if there is true political will to care for our seniors, their right to AOV indexation must be ensured without hiding behind calculation dates, just as they did not hide behind dates for civil servants’ vacation pay.
After 6 years of governance by the Pisas Cabinet, the Minister of SOAW states that AOV has increased to 1,000 guilders. What he does not say is that this increase is not a favor, but a right anchored in law that our seniors are entitled to, and which to this day has not been properly fulfilled.
It is also remarkable that to date Parliament has not received any legislation to formalize this AOV increase. The reality is crystal clear: the increase is not an achievement of the SOAW Ministry, but of the pensioners themselves who have fought endlessly. Ever since we in the MAN party showed that, according to the law, pensioners have a right to AOV indexation, our fight is not over as long as the AOV remains unindexed and the promised increase to 1500 XCG is not delivered.
