Aruba and PSV Commit to Reaching a Strategic Alliance

Allowing A.T.A. to continue strengthening its presence in Europe among desired guests

The Aruba Tourism Authority (A.T.A.) and professional football club PSV have signed a letter of intent to continue the path toward a strategic alliance. This collaboration is part of A.T.A.’s focus to strengthen Aruba’s international positioning and connect the Aruba brand with relevant audiences and opportunities in the Netherlands and across Europe. The agreement was signed by Frans Janssen, Authorized Commercial Director of PSV N.V., the Minister of Tourism, Transport and Labor, Mr. Wendrick Cicilia, and Ronella Croes, CEO of A.T.A.

Founded in 1913, PSV is one of the most successful professional football clubs in the Netherlands, holding both a national and international profile—a club that opens doors not only in the Netherlands, but also throughout Europe. Beyond football, PSV functions as a commercial platform with connections in sports, entertainment, hospitality, media, and business networking.

For Aruba and A.T.A., collaborations like this serve a purpose that goes far beyond mere visibility. A.T.A.’s strategy focuses on attracting visitors with a higher economic value, diversifying the market, stimulating tourism conversion, and strengthening Aruba’s positioning as a premium destination. For this reason, Europe is an important market within Aruba’s diversification strategy.

The Netherlands is currently Aruba’s largest source market in Europe, while the European region represents a market with strong potential for development. Therefore, the presence of the ‘Aruba’ brand on relevant platforms helps our island proportionally capture more high-value guests from the Netherlands and, in a broader context, create opportunities to connect with audiences, partners, and business networks not only in the Netherlands, but across Europe.

Another important aspect of the collaboration is PSV’s connection with the Brainport Eindhoven ecosystem, one of Europe’s leading innovation and technology regions. This ecosystem includes companies, research institutions, universities, international talent, and business networks. Among the organizations mentioned within this ecosystem are ASML, Philips, VDL Group, Eindhoven University of Technology, and High Tech Campus Eindhoven. An alliance will give Aruba a prominent space for access, as well as increased visibility. It is also important to explore other possibilities for collaboration that could serve Aruba’s sports and athletes.

With this collaboration, A.T.A. continues its strategic focus on strengthening Aruba’s presence and positioning in international markets, and on continuing to build a strong ‘Aruba’ brand as a destination.

Diversification, in this sense, is not necessarily about increasing visitor volume, but rather about attracting higher-value visitors who can contribute to a more diversified tourism profile.

The Dutch guest aligns well with this direction, as they tend to stay longer and demonstrate appreciation for culture, authentic experiences, and nature, discovering Aruba far beyond just our beaches. This represents the type of visitor A.T.A. wishes to continue attracting and strengthening within our tourism composition.
