The Aruba Tourism Authority (A.T.A.), in collaboration with Aruba Ports Authority N.V. (APA N.V.), extended a warm welcome to the cruise ships of the 2026 season during their inaugural calls. The arrival of Queen Anne and Star Princess took place on April 16, 2026, followed by Scenic Eclipse on April 19, 2026. These important visits emphasize Aruba’s ongoing position as a leading Caribbean destination committed to quality tourism, strong collaboration, and sustainability-focused cruise development.
On April 16, 2026, Aruba received the “first call” of Queen Anne, represented locally by port agency SEL Maduro and Sons, and Star Princess, represented by Armada Port Agency. A.T.A. Visitor Care Liaison Marouska Heyliger attended the first call along with representatives from APA N.V., highlighting the collaboration between the destination’s key stakeholders.
On April 19, the ultra-luxury expedition yacht Scenic Eclipse made its inaugural call to Aruba, managed by SEL Maduro and Sons. This visit strengthened Aruba’s relationship with the luxury and expedition cruise segment, which continues to emphasize smaller passenger numbers and more environmentally conscious itineraries.
Emphasis on Sustainability All three ships align with broader industry efforts to improve environmental performance and responsible tourism practices. Modern cruise operations increasingly incorporate initiatives such as energy efficiency improvements, waste reduction, advanced wastewater treatment systems, and destination engagement strategies designed to support local communities while minimizing environmental impact.
Plaque Exchange Ceremony During each inaugural call, a plaque exchange ceremony took place. This is a long-standing maritime tradition where commemorative plaques are presented between the ship’s senior officers and representatives of the host destination. This symbolic gesture represents mutual appreciation, goodwill, and the strengthening of long-term relationships between the cruise line, port agents, and the destination.
