During the symposium organized by Soroptimist International at Educampus, speaker Clementia Eugene presented on the topic “Intergenerational Trauma.” In her presentation, Eugene emphasized an aspect that, according to her, is often not given enough attention: trauma that is passed from one generation to another.
According to Eugene, many women grow up with the idea that they must always appear strong, without giving themselves the space to process their own pain and experiences. However, recognizing and understanding these traumas is an essential step toward healing.
Eugene explained that the goal of addressing the topic of intergenerational trauma is to help women find the necessary tools to better understand their situation and begin the healing process. According to her, when a person is able to recognize the origins of their trauma, they can start working on their emotional and mental well-being.
During her presentation, Eugene encouraged the audience to pay more attention to themselves and not feel pressured to always show strength, but instead allow themselves to go through a process of healing and personal growth.
The symposium was part of a morning dedicated to education and awareness about different aspects of trauma and well-being, which attracted a large number of participants from the community.
