The Coat of Arms of Aruba celebrated its 70th anniversary on November 15, 2025, and Parliamentarian Xiomara Maduro congratulates the people of Aruba on this important milestone of one of the symbols of our identity, highlighting who we are as a people and as a nation.

Parliamentarian Xiomara Maduro expresses her gratitude to the Department of Culture and especially UNOCA, which dedicated special attention to this anniversary. The Department of Culture has made information about our Coat of Arms available on their website www.cultura.aw. UNOCA presented a special six-part series, in which each edition focuses on one of the symbols represented in Aruba’s Coat of Arms. It is a beautiful, educational visual production of high quality, presented in our beloved Papiamento.

Each edition of the series explains the meaning of a specific detail included in the Coat of Arms of Aruba. In this way, everyone can learn more about the significance of symbols such as the Aloe, Hooiberg and Lama, the White Cross, Wheel, Hand of Justice, Lion, and Laurel that form part of Aruba’s Coat of Arms. The series can be viewed on UNOCA’s Facebook, Povi-tree, and on YouTube via the UNOCA Cares channel.

The parliamentarian expresses her appreciation to Mr. Levy Geerman of Povi-tree for his dedication and efforts in producing and presenting the series in a way that inspires people to learn more about our history and understand who we are as a nation.

Programs like this are important for educating our youth, adults, and everyone connected to Aruba. Parliamentarian Xiomara Maduro, as former Minister of Culture, calls on UNOCA and Minister of Culture Eman to broadcast this series via our national station Telearuba, so that people in Aruba and around the world can get a closer look at one of the symbols that is part of our Aruban identity.
