The National Commission for Intangible Cultural Heritage Aruba invites the community to participate in the second community consultation, titled “Let’s Continue the Conversation About Music in Aruba”. The activity will take place on Saturday, September 26, 2026, from 2:00 to 4:30 in the afternoon, at the National Archives of Aruba, at Sabana Blanco 60.
During the first consultation, participants identified different musical genres that form part of Aruba’s cultural heritage. The second meeting will delve into these genres and their history, characteristics, instruments, dance, attire, tradition bearers, and evolution over time.
The contribution of musicians, experts, cultural organizations, researchers, tradition bearers, and everyone who has knowledge or interest in Aruban music is essential to complete and strengthen the collected information. This process contributes to the documentation, protection, and transmission of our musical heritage to future generations.
The consultation forms part of the work to implement the 2003 UNESCO Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage. The activity is organized in collaboration with the National Archives of Aruba, ArubaMusician.com, the National Library of Aruba, the Department of Culture Aruba, the National Archaeological Museum Aruba, UNESCO Aruba, and UNOCA.
