Impact of International Crisis PPA Faction Leader Eduard Pieters indicates that tensions between the U.S., Israel, and Iran have generated a domino effect already being felt in the energy market. Oil prices have reached the $100 per barrel mark, and analysts predict it could reach as high as $150. For an island like Aruba, this means not only more expensive gasoline but also an increase in the cost of production and transportation for all imported goods.
Local merchants have already indicated that ocean transport costs are set to rise by 25%. This increase in freight will be passed directly to the consumer, meaning supermarket products will continue to see weekly price hikes.
Aruba vs. Other Kingdom Islands While other countries within the Dutch Kingdom, such as Sint Maarten and Curaçao, have already begun to react and present concrete points to face this crisis, the situation in Aruba remains different.
