In its effort to promote Papiamento and its literature, the Fundacion Lanta Papiamento (FLP) launched a very interesting book in Papiamento in February of this year, suitable for youth, adults, and especially for secondary school students.
The book, titled Ata Compa Nanzi atrobe – cuenta picaro pa hoben y adulto (Here is Compa Nanzi Again – Picaresque Tales for Youth and Adults), was written by the late Yvette Ecury and Andy Daal. It is a book to read and listen to, as each story includes a QR code that can be scanned to listen to the audio recordings. This is made possible because the stories are hosted in the Aruba Collection: https://coleccion.aw.
The book features seven stories about Compa Nanzi and his friends, along with information highlighting these tales as part of our cultural heritage. Readers will also find background information on the authors, as well as a reading list of publications by and about Compa Nanzi, offering opportunities to conduct research and develop educational projects around these engaging stories.
FLP and UNOCA invited Papiamento teachers from local secondary schools to receive a copy for their schools. The presentation took place on Thursday, September 3, at the UNOCA building. It was a pleasant gathering with the teachers, who were delighted to receive this book as a valuable addition to the Papiamento curriculum.
FLP is extremely pleased and proud to contribute in this manner to the teaching of Papiamento and its literature.
