Preamble
We, the conference participants on the Future of Work (FoW) and diverse stakeholders of Curaçao, hereby commit to a future aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as presented in the Curacao 2030 Vision document. We place innovation, inclusivity, and resilience at the core of our work-related endeavors for the years 2023-2025, fortified by specific goals, data-driven metrics, and accountability measures. The proposed resolutions focus on how technology addresses societal needs and imply innovative solutions to channel the workforce from heated sectors into the realm of ICT.
Human-Centric Innovation and Adaptability
We commit to a human-touch innovation strategy, designed to elevate individual capabilities while modernizing industries and work practices. In this context, human touch means prioritizing people’s well-being and needs in the innovation strategy, ensuring technology serves the betterment of society. Concrete measures include a 15% increase in R&D spending by 2025 and the creation of a national ‘Innovation Hub’ to foster collaborations.
Education and Skill Development for a Human-Centric Era
We will reform our educational system to stimulate ethics as a core skill set and make digital literacy a fundamental component for all citizens. Emphasizing not only technological skills but also vital 21st-century skills traits like creativity, empathy, critical thinking, and emotional intelligence, we aim to achieve an 80% literacy rate in digital competencies among students by 2025. This approach aligns with the model followed in Singapore, ensuring basic digital literacy certification for all. Digital literacy refers to the ability to use, understand and comprehend digital information effectively.
Inclusivity, Diversity, and Digital Inclusion
We are committed to an inclusive work environment where all employees, regardless of their background, age, or other characteristics, feel valued and respected and are integrated and to achieving 100% internet access by 2025. A task force will tackle inclusivity and affordability barriers, ensuring that all backgrounds are valued and empowered.
Sustainable Practices and Climate Consciousness
We commit to a 10% reduction in the national carbon footprint by 2025 in alignment with international climate agreements. In addition, we will raise environmental awareness in school to secure a more sustainable future.
Entrepreneurship for a Dynamic and Sustainable Economy
Recognizing the importance of entrepreneurship for economic growth and job creation, we’ll enhance the current entrepreneurial ecosystem, acknowledging that outdated employment laws can pose barriers. We’ll launch a specialized ‘Entrepreneurship Development Program’ to incubate at least 30 startups by 2025, focusing on innovative solutions for local and global challenges.
Transparent Governance for Human Flourishing
We will implement transparency indices, regular audits, and uphold trust, integrity, and good governance to ensure our governance structures are conducive for economic growth and job creation.
Economic Diversification with Human Well-being at its Core
We will diversify our economy with sectors like ICT and renewable energy leading the way. Annual reports will gauge the success of diversification efforts, considering metrics such as GDP contribution and job creation rates.
Civic Engagement and Individual Agency
We encourage civic participation through the establishment of ‘Future of Work’ community centers where citizens can partake in dialogues and decision-making processes, aiming for a 20% increase in citizen participation by 2025.
Multi-Stakeholder Collaboration
We will establish a central coordinating committee representing civil society, businesses, educational establishments, organizations such as CCCp and government to oversee the implementation of this manifesto.
Accountability and Monitoring
A biannual State of the Future of Work’ report will be published, outlining progress made in each area, with complimenting metrics based on the sector.
Conclusion
In this manifesto, we collectively affirm our commitment to crafting a future where work becomes a source of holistic fulfillment, opportunity, and societal advancement, backed by specific goals, data, and accountability measures. The period from 2023 to 2025 will be pivotal in Curaçao’s history, as we construct a human-centric Future of Work that embodies our collective aspirations and lays the groundwork for a more equitable and prosperous tomorrow.
