Marines from the Marine Squadron Carib and the boat platoon trained together with the ‘Infantería de Marina Colombiana’ during Exercise Estribo in Colombia from May 11 to 22. In the challenging river region near Turbo, both units worked intensively together during operations on and around the water to exchange knowledge, experience, and procedures.
Colombian and Dutch marines trained side by side in a realistic scenario. The emphasis there was on strengthening operational skills and further intensifying the cooperation between the two Marine Corps.
During Estribo, the marines practiced various tactics and procedures for operations in terrain that is difficult to access, such as the dense jungle in the area along the rivers. The units trained on, among other things, movements across water, operating in small teams, and conducting operations under difficult and challenging conditions.
Both units increased their readiness and learned from each other’s working methods and experiences. The participants experienced the training as intensive and highly educational. They look back on a successful exercise in which mutual cooperation was further strengthened.
