On Tuesday, July 28, the Minister of Justice and Integration, Mr. Arthur Dowers, together with the Minister of Tourism, Mr. Wendrick Cicilia, attended a special ceremony where the Peruvian community residing in Aruba celebrated the 205th anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Peru. The event, held at Simón Bolívar Square, brought together representatives of the Government of Aruba, members of Parliament, and representatives of the Peruvian community to honor the historical ties and friendship between both nations.
Minister Dowers congratulated the Peruvian community and underscored their important contribution to Arubaanse society. In his remarks, the Minister praised the Peruvian community as a hard-working, dedicated, and committed group that actively contributes to Aruba’s development, especially in sectors such as construction, gastronomy, and sports. According to Minister Dowers, the daily contribution of the Peruvian community strengthens our country’s economy and well-being.
Representing the Peruvian community, citizen Carlos Fernandez Joo expressed his deep pride in once again celebrating the historic date of July 28 in Aruba. He emphasized that despite being so far from their homeland, the love for Peru and the pride in their identity remain firm in their hearts. According to Fernandez Joo, celebrations like this not only keep culture and traditions alive, but also strengthen the bonds of friendship, mutual respect, and gratitude between Peru and Aruba.
The ceremony concluded in a festive atmosphere of unity and fraternity, highlighting the close relationship between Aruba and the Peruvian community, which through its work, culture, and commitment continues to make a positive contribution to the development of our community.
