National Library activity schedule with space theme

The National Library of Aruba (BNA) recently introduced a change to its afternoon activity schedule, a decision that is already yielding very positive results. Under the new management, educational sessions now take place from 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM, allowing for a better flow of participation from both children and parents.

According to Ms. Savala, the event coordinator at the National Library, this schedule adjustment has been highly successful. Interest has grown considerably, which is evident in the enthusiasm of the families visiting the library for these evening activities.

A Month Dedicated to the Universe

During the month of May, the National Library chose the fascinating theme of “Space.” Children were transported to a universe of knowledge, learning amazing details about the moon, the sun, and the stars.

Last Monday served as a perfect example of combining education with recreation. The main focus was on world maps, where participants explored geography through games and traditional educational songs, such as the popular “Luna cu solo lagami pasa” (Moon and sun, let me pass).

Creativity also played a fundamental role. In a family atmosphere, parents actively participated alongside their children by painting the “Aruban Star” in various artistic forms. To encourage participation, a competition was organized where the most beautiful and original creations were awarded prizes.

Upcoming Event: May 18

Following the success of the first few weeks, Ms. Savala extends a special invitation to the entire Aruban community for a unique event taking place next Monday, May 18. For this occasion, the National Library will join forces with the Space and Nature Aruba Foundation for a special presentation. The program will consist of:

  • Storytelling: Captivating tales that combine the themes of space and nature.
  • Expert Presentation: Special guest Edward Chong will be present to share his knowledge and provide detailed explanations about the wonders of our universe to the children and their guardians.

Ms. Savala concluded by thanking the Aruban community, especially the parents who consciously make time in their schedules to bring their children to the National Library. This effort allows the new generation to enjoy activities that not only entertain but fundamentally enrich their general knowledge and their love for reading and science.
