the Amsterdam University of the Arts will start a pilot project to explore a training program for theater teachers in Bonaire. Starting Monday, October 20, all interested parties can participate in a 5-day trial class to get an idea of the content of the program.
During this week, two theater teachers will be present: Yahmani Blackman from the Amsterdam University of the Arts and Richailine Elisa, who is no stranger to Bonaire and Curaçao, from the prestigious Elisa Academy that prepares young people to study theater in the Netherlands.
So an invitation to all teachers, educational staff, leaders of organizations working with children and youth, or simply if you’re interested in becoming a theater teacher and perhaps starting your own theater movement in Bonaire? Do you want to expand your theater knowledge? You are warmly welcome. Visit the Facebook page: Cultuureducatie Bonaire and click on the link. You can also send a WhatsApp message to 790-0155.
In Bonaire, there is currently a need for professionals in the field of arts education. To avoid having to use teachers from outside, ACE Foundation, together with Aruba, represented by Emy Lasten, has contacted the Amsterdam University of the Arts to create the opportunity to train and certify our own people so they can teach art in schools, for example. The idea is to develop a short-term program in which you can obtain your certification in two years to be able to teach in schools. With this initiative, Bonaire not only creates its own theater teachers, but also opens up the possibility for Bonaire to produce more actors and actresses, which brings more activity to Bonaire’s theater world.
