The Pueblo Arubano Party (PPA) faction stood in the economic center of the country, in the heart of Oranjestad, to send a strong and direct message to the Council of Ministers. Set against a backdrop that reflects the bitter reality of the city center, the faction highlighted the inaction and lack of decision-making by the current government, which is impacting both historical heritage and the local economy.
During the press conference, PPA faction leader Eduard Pieters pointed out the sharp
contrast existing in Oranjestad:
A symbol of decay: On one side, a completely neglected building that reflects a government that has abandoned not only Oranjestad, but also districts like San Nicolas, Paradera, Santa Cruz, and Noord. This decline is the direct result of an administration that fails to make decisions.
Local investors struggling: On the other side, a beautiful building where local investors have poured millions of florins, but now must fight to use it properly. Due to a lack of governmental decisions, these investors remain stalled.
The PPA faction warned that this situation is causing alarming discouragement within the business sector. Many local investors who intended to keep investing in our country are now expressing that they are ready to take their capital and money to other countries if the outlook does not change.
PPA emphasizes that the solution lies in the hands of the ministers themselves and that there is no excuse to continue holding back this development. Grounding their stance on the legal framework of ROPV, Article 7.2A, the faction challenged the Council of Ministers to make a decision as early as tomorrow.
“These local investors should not have to keep struggling, begging, or turning to the press to get their rights,” stated PPA faction leader Eduard Pieters, issuing an urgent call to stop the bureaucracy and give downtown Oranjestad and the districts the attention and decisions they deserve so they can flourish once again.
