Regional unity strengthened as CESISALC Presidency passes from Curaçao to Guatemala

Raul Sept 2025 1

The official handover of the presidency of the regional network of socio-economic advisory councils and similar institutions of Latin America and the Caribbean (CESISALC) took place in Guatemala City. The Social and Economic Council (SER) of Curaçao, which successfully held the presidency over the past two years, formally transferred leadership to Guatemala during a hybrid ceremony. A two-member delegation from the SER of Curaçao attended in person, while other members joined virtually.

The session also marked the presentation of CESISALC’s 2025 Annual Report. The report underscored significant achievements, including the strengthening of institutionalized social dialogue across the region, the expansion of membership, the launch of the Ibero-American platform RICESIS, and the increased visibility of CESISALC in international arenas such as the International Labour Organization (ILO) and the United Nations.
In its closing statement, the outgoing Presidency of Curaçao emphasized the strategic importance of further modernizing CESISALC’s legal and institutional framework. It urged a comprehensive review of the network’s statutory documents, the full digitalization of its archives, and the establishment of periodic evaluation mechanisms. These reforms are designed to enhance transparency, legitimacy, and institutional resilience, ensuring CESISALC’s continued relevance and effectiveness in addressing the region’s pressing socio-economic challenges.
