Following a successful first forum presenting the results of a five-year study on the potential and urgency of intervention in San Nicolas, the stage is set for the second installment of the Forum on the Future of San Nicolas. The event will take place on Saturday the 19th, Monday the 21st, and Tuesday the 22nd of September, from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Teresita Center.
Suzette Dumfries, an independent economist, developed this plan for her country. The main goal of this second forum is to transition from vision to concrete action. Over the course of these three days, the “Dumfries Plan 2030” will be presented—a comprehensive proposal covering not only economic development, but also the social and cultural aspects of the region.
The forum will address key questions regarding the plan’s execution: how the development will be organized, who the key execution actors will be, how it will be financed, and the legal framework required for the institutions to function properly. Although this initiative originated as an independent nation-building process, the plan also identifies the specific role the Government must execute.
This gathering brings together all key stakeholders for the future of San Nicolas: government representatives, financial institutions, investors, local organizations, and the residents of San Nicolas themselves.
Although capacity for institutions and the private sector is nearly sold out, a special call is made to the residents of San Nicolas to attend, learn about the plan, and actively participate in discussions regarding the intended outcomes.
