This past weekend, athletes training at “ThunderBox297,” a new training center in Santa Cruz, participated in the biggest “Functional Fitness” event of the year — the Fitville Caribbean Championships 2025. The event featured two competitions: one in the rapidly growing global sport known as HYROX, and the other in Functional Fitness, more commonly known as “CrossFit.”
ThunderBox297 owner Ross Ismail, together with partner Regi Boekhoudt, competed in the HYROX event under the “Pro” division, kicking off the competition for the entire team. In the individual RX division — the most challenging Functional Fitness category — Aline Rios dos Anjos and Lucas dos Anjos competed among a strong field of high-level athletes. Both fought hard and delivered a solid final performance. Finally, athletes Christy Rodriguez and Pauline Vackier (Team Ban pa Bay) competed in the Intermediate Female Partner division, where they secured an impressive third-place podium finish among a large group of competitors.
ThunderBox297 congratulates F3A Aruba, the local Functional Fitness federation, for the excellent organization, and all athletes who took part in this great event. The sport of functional fitness continues to grow in popularity thanks to events that show our community just how great this sport truly is.
