The Aruba Department of Civil Aviation has been monitoring developments regarding the rising tensions between the United States and Venezuela for some time.

Over the past weeks, local stakeholders have met regularly to exchange and analyze the information available about the situation and its possible impact on Aruba. This is done from different perspectives: one platform focused on tourism and connectivity, and another on security-related issues. Additionally, the topics are also discussed with the countries that have responsibilities in managing the airspace around Aruba, including the Netherlands and Curaçao.

It has been noted that last Thursday, U.S. authorities issued a bulletin (“NOTAM”) to warn pilots and air operators flying in the airspace managed by Maiquetía due to possible risks.

This bulletin does not apply to Aruba’s airspace.
However, as a preventive measure, Curaçao’s DC-ANSP issued a similar bulletin that does reference our airspace.

The Aruba Department of Civil Aviation takes the situation seriously, given the geographic proximity to Venezuela. As of now, there are no indications that flights to or from Aruba are being directly affected. Therefore, monitoring will continue closely, and measures will be taken as needed, in close cooperation with the involved stakeholders.
