On Tuesday morning, the Maritime Operations Center (MOC) of the Coast Guard received a report that a cruise ship sailing near Bonaire urgently requested assistance for a passenger. The passenger was a 37-year-old man of German nationality who had suffered a heart attack.
The MOC staff immediately contacted the CITRO doctor to assess the situation. The CITRO doctor advised that the person should be evacuated immediately and transported to a hospital for medical treatment. The Coast Guard helicopter was deployed right away, and the patient was handed over to waiting ambulance personnel for further care.
