The Tax Department has issued an urgent warning to inform the public in Aruba about an attempted digital scam circulating via SMS. Unauthorized individuals are illegally using the institution’s name and logo.
According to the department, the fake messages attempt to convince taxpayers to “not waste time” and request their tax refund digitally. The SMS contains a link that directs users to a fake form designed to collect personal information.
The Tax Department emphasizes that these messages do not originate from their office and that the situation is a scam, currently under investigation by the relevant authorities.
The institution strongly urges everyone not to open the link, and if someone has already done so, not to enter any information in the form. According to the warning, this could put sensitive data at risk of falling into the hands of malicious actors.
The department also reminds the public that they never request personal information via SMS or email with links to external forms. It is always recommended to verify information directly with the Tax Department before submitting or sharing any data.
