Parliamentarian Xiomara Maduro expresses her gratitude to Mr. Ivan Quandus for preserving our traditions through his documentary “History and Preservation of the Caha di Orgel of Aruba,” a project that honors and safeguards an essential part of our cultural identity.
Maduro emphasizes the importance of documenting our history, especially our musical traditions, such as the Caha di Orgel, which for many generations has been part of the daily life and celebrations of our people. This instrument is a symbol of joy, unity, and cultural heritage in the heart of Aruba. The Caha di Orgel plays a significant role in Aruban culture and has even been recognized as part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands’ intangible cultural heritage.
According to the parliamentarian, initiatives like this are fundamental to ensuring that the knowledge, stories, and cultural values of our traditions are not lost but preserved for future generations.
“Documenting our history is key to keeping our identity alive. This documentary is an important step in the right direction,” Maduro stated.
With this work, Mr. Ivan Quandus is making a significant contribution to the preservation of our musical cultural heritage. His efforts serve as an inspiration to the community, especially to our youth, to appreciate, protect, and continue the beautiful tradition of the Caha di Orgel in Aruba.
