A cultural icon goes on a well-deserved retirement!

It was a pleasure for Member of Parliament Xiomara Maduro to join Mr. Nelson Tiel to celebrate his last day of work at the National Archives of Aruba (ANA). Surrounded by his colleagues and family, Nelson commemorated the fact that he has worked for 44 years for the well-being of our community, and the time has now come for a well-deserved retirement.

Over the years, Nelson has worked at Idefre, the Social Department, and at ANA, where he worked for 23 long years.

MP Maduro is deeply grateful to Nelson, particularly for all the work he has done in the cultural field to preserve our history—for example, through the various interviews with cultural pillars that were recorded and documented for history. Not to be forgotten, Nelson himself is a cultural bearer who keeps our tradition of cah’i orgel (cylinder piano) music alive.

“We thank Nelson for everything he has done to document our history, and also for all his contributions to our traditional Cah’i Orgel music. Enjoy a well-deserved retirement,” MP Xiomara Maduro expressed.
