Yesterday evening, the “Sports Administration Course” continued. After previously covering more general themes regarding the management of sports organizations, the course has now shifted focus toward a specific role: in this case, the role of the president of a sports organization. Every sports association relies on a board of directors, and as such, has a president who manages the organization to which they were elected.
For the three lessons covering this important topic, a professional was brought in who is not only an expert in the field but also possesses extensive experience as a board member for various types of associations, Mr. Dave Martinus. Dave has previously participated in other courses organized by the Aruban Olympic Committee (COA), such as the Capacity Building Training.
This session saw a great deal of dialogue among all those present, with many personal experiences shared alongside the various challenges encountered within the tasks and responsibilities of a president in a sports organization. This demonstrates a keen interest not only in learning about the responsibilities of a president and/or board of a sports organization, but also in finding ways to improve their own current situations in order to continue working toward raising the level of sports in Aruba.
