The Aruba Tourism Authority (A.T.A.) and the Aruba Conservation Foundation (ACF) joined forces for the premiere of the documentary “Turning the Tide” in the Netherlands, held on October 28 at Filmhuis Den Haag. The documentary, which had its local premiere earlier this year in Aruba, was presented in the Netherlands to an international audience.
The event brought together 55 participants, including Ronella Croes, CEO of A.T.A., and Sanju Luidens, CMO of A.T.A., along with members of A.T.A.’s European market team. Representing ACF were Natasha Silva and Edeline Berg, Communications & Marketing Manager of ACF. Scientist Rene Henkens from Wageningen University was also present for this special screening.
“Turning the Tide” is a production by ACF in collaboration with the ScubbleBubbles Foundation, the University of Aruba, and Wageningen University & Research.
The documentary highlights the efforts of local, regional, and international experts to restore Aruba’s marine habitats. The story stands as a testament to hope, unity, and the fight against ecological crisis, emphasizing the importance of conserving mangrove forests and coral reefs, as well as the active participation of the community.
“This documentary is special because it was created in Aruba, for Aruba — born out of local pride and strengthened through international collaboration. Every step taken to protect nature, no matter how small, counts for the future of our island,” emphasized Ronella Croes during her speech in The Hague.
A.T.A. and ACF have collaborated on several projects, such as the restoration of mangroves, dune conservation, and infrastructure improvements in Arikok National Park. But it’s more than just working together; it’s a valuable partnership built on mutual trust and a shared goal.
“Together, we are working toward a future that restores our natural environment and brings people closer — a future founded on integrity, strengthened by innovation, and sustained by inclusion,” said Ronella Croes regarding the collaboration between A.T.A. and ACF.
A.T.A. will renew its strategic agreement with ACF for another three years, with the goal of continuing joint work on sustainable and innovative projects.
