Last week, the Aruba Amateur Weightlifting Association (AAWA) held a meeting with its members. AAWA President Hugo Themen, together with Coach Laertes Araque, welcomed Cuban coach Yunel Caballero, who is in Aruba as part of a very interesting regional development project.
The Pan American Weightlifting Federation (PAWF), led by President José Quiñones, has launched a program that assigns experienced coaches to different member nations in the Caribbean region to help promote and develop the sport of weightlifting. Through this initiative, Coach Yunel arrived in Aruba and will work alongside AAWA to identify and train local talent in the sport. He will remain on the island for two months, focusing on developing strategic plans to ensure future structural visits and continued support with implementation and execution.
On behalf of the Aruban Olympic Committee (COA), best wishes are extended to Coach Yunel Caballero and AAWA for great success with this project. As shared during the meeting, COA expressed its willingness to assist wherever possible.
